Dubai / Hyderabad -A security alert was issued against Emirates flight EK526 flying between Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Hyderabad (HYD) after the security agencies at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport received a bomb threat email in the morning. The alarming message notwithstanding, the aircraft landed safely, and all the passengers were evacuated without a single injury.
The customer support team of Hyderabad airport received the threat at approximately 7:30 AM (local time), according to the officials of the airport. The airport also deployed full emergency and security measures and kept a close observation on the incoming Emirates aircraft.
The flight carrying Dubai-bound passengers was going on, but with increased scrutiny, and landed safely in Hyderabad at around 8.30 AM.
Planes were shifted to Isolated Bay to check on their safety
Upon landing, there was a prompt response by security forces. The plane was flown to a remote bay where it was not flown in the usual airport activities. The deboarding of passengers was done safely in line with standard operating procedure, and comprehensive inspections were commenced.
Emirates also stated that it would cooperate with the Indian authorities fully in an official statement:
“On 5 December, the Indian authorities informed us that there was a risk of a security threat to the Emirates flight, EK526, on the Dubai-Hyderabad route. Normal security measures were applied, and the passengers came out in normal ways after the security checks. The safety and well-being of our passengers and crew is what are of utmost importance to us.”
The security agencies are still under investigation, and more updates are likely to be provided.
Chain of Bomb Threats Causes Apprehension
This does not happen in isolation. The flights to Hyderabad have lately been targeted by various threat warnings:
- Thursday, an IndiGo aircraft carrying Madinah to Hyderabad was diverted to Ahmedabad due to a similar threat.
- Earlier this week, a Kuwait-Hyderabad IndiGo flight was sometime called upon to make an emergency landing in Mumbai.
- On November 22, Hyderabad airport received a fake bomb threat, which was oanoff an explosive device outside the airport grounds.
- On November 1st, another threatening e-mail resulted in the diversion of a Hyderabad flight.
Officials would confirm later that some of the threats were hoaxes, but the recurrence of such incidents has given serious thought to the security officials in the airports.
Safety is the Top Priority at Emirates
Nonetheless, the scare has made Emirates Airlines show its ultimate dedication to the safety of passengers once more. The communication between the Indian security service, the airport management,,nt and the Emirates on-ground team would have resulted in a safe and easy fate of all on board.
Injuries or panic have not been reported, and the situation is under complete control.
