Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has ensured the schedules of the public transport and services of Dubai during the New Year 2026 holiday as the emirate plans massive New Year’s Eve events.
The goal of the announcement is to provide a transfer of free mobility, fewer traffic jams, and serve the people and guests who come to watch the fireworks and other happenings in the city.
Extended Dubai Metro Services on New Year’s Eve
According to RTA, the Dubai Metro will be working longer hours on New Year’s Eve, and the Red Line and the Green Line will run late at night. More trains will be introduced during the high traffic periods to accommodate the human traffic, especially in the major celebration zones.
It is recommended that passengers visiting high-footfall areas like Burj Khalifa and Downtown Dubai should come early and adhere to the instructions given by the stations.
Dubai Tram and Bus Timings Announced
The RTA ensured that Dubai Tram services would also be running with extended hours around the New Year period, particularly in all the hot spots such as Dubai Marina and Jumeirah Beach Residence.
Meanwhile, the use of public buses will be made to be on special holiday times, and extra buses will be provided on high-demand routes. Night and intercity buses will run on modified schedules for the New Year.
Taxi and Marine Transport Services
As stated by RTA, the taxi services in Dubai will operate 24/7 during New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. There will be an additional availability of taxis within the major event areas, and the arrangements will have the pick-up and drop-off zones.
The marine transport services, abras, and water taxis will be functioning on special schedules during the New Year, and their routes may be changed in the areas of fireworks.
RTA Service Centres and Online Services
RTA has ensured that Customer Happiness Centres will be shut down on January 1, 2026, in accordance with the official public holiday. Nevertheless, intelligent service centres and online platforms will be available.
Citizens are able to use online services using the RTA Dubai App and DubaiNow even when on a holiday.
Traffic and Travel Advisory
The governments have encouraged citizens and tourists to use transport whenever they are allowed to go to the roads, since there will be temporary road closures and diversion of traffic in and around key celebration sites. Drivers are encouraged to adhere to the statements and schedule their trips beforehand.
Conclusion
The New Year 2026 transport plan of RTA Dubai is planned to provide efficient and safe transportation in the city on one of the busiest event days of the year, with extended metro, tram, bus, taxi, and marine services. The residents are advised to remain updated via official channels at RTA and follow travel advisories.
